ESO - The Year Ahead

What are all of your opinions on this update by Matt Firor? I am typically glass half full with this game on public forums and chats but I have to admit that after reading through this I feel let down. I agree with the people who will start raging in the days ahead complaining about the removal of their bounty hunter concept that they teased us with back in 2014. I will also agree with those upset that their still no alternative to laggy Cyrodiil AVA. (bring back the deer!) I also am majorly disappointed in the hold they are putting on spell crafting. I honestly feel like all the fillers that Matt added to get us hyped were just featured that really should have been in the game since launch anyway so I'm not happy at all. With huge games knocking on their door like BDO and other older games getting revitalized due to cross media like Warcraft and Star Wars, I am seriously concerned for ESO, its community and our future with the game. They better have some serious cards up their sleeves. Thanks for the vent. ok. I'm done.
I was satisfied with the plan for the first half of 2016 and it is mostly as expected.
I knew about the spellcrafting hiatus at least since July and thought I had told you guys, if not I apologize. As for the Justice PvP, that is news to me but it did appear they ran into issues with it. With my system AvA runs fine, I haven't had lag since September I think when I last saw it, I realize it doesn't run well for everyone but they have made huge improvements there that I can see.
The two DLC's upcoming appear to be interesting and we can hope that this moves Housing up a bit sooner. I am thrilled they took my request to go back out to gaming conventions to heart, and so we'll be able to meet with them in Boston in April most likely.
I never heard of 'BDO' and I don't think there is any danger of Warcraft or Star Wars putting them out of business as they are older games with their own issues and dealing with their own player losses.
yea Karo. Maybe I'm just being a bitch. i don't know man. I just really want them to be successful. Most of the reason behind it is personal because I've devoted so much time, energy and finances into this game already. I am NOT going to unsubscribe any time soon and I'm sticking by ESO for the long haul. Nevertheless, i am terrible concerned for the game. I really hope they pull come crazy shit off! I love ESO but i am starting to hate ZOS. And the only people i have ever disliked this much are the people i cant trust.
I am a bit let down with the PvP component gone in the Justice System. I was looking forward to that.
It is as it is.
I am really excited about the Thieves' Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, especially as they plan to open up Anvil (my second favorite city after Chorrol in Cyrodiil) and Kvatch, which I've wanted to see intact since Oblivion. That is going to be a lot of fun. I do hope there will be stuff for our characters who don't want to join the Dark Brotherhood to do there.
Even though they cannot have the Justice System PvP going on as we all hoped it would, it is still possible that they could have something for the Dark Brotherhood to do in PvP. For example, once they finish the Dark Brotherhood questline, maybe they could get contracts for players on opposing sides in Cyrodiil. I don't know if that would work, but all it seems to be is a more specific quest than the one already given in Cyrodill (kill other players).
I'm hoping for a more PvE based end of questline continuation like that, though. Get a contract for a random NPC that is already killable. If it can be spread throughout all the open lands of Tamriel, and maybe they limit it to once a day, it shouldn't make too big a difference in what we see going on. Especially, if the guards will do their best to kill any would be assassins.
I too have been disappointed with some things going back half a year or more prior to launch. But could I have done a better job in any of the roles at ZOS? I don't believe so. I think our expectations were so extremely high for this game, that it is not possible to not think of 'what if' scenarios, and was impossible for any dev team to live up to all of our hopes and dreams. Hindsight is 20-20 though and the game is certainly still entertaining, which is what counts, and is still under development with great additions coming out and their roadmap is realistic. I needed a break from it which I am still taking, but I have remained subscribed all through that break and have no intention of unsubscribing. Having personally met the senior developers, I can say they all love the game and their work and it is in good hands. I'll be back soon!
so i slept on my thoughts. I think im more sad and disappointed than upset. My disappointment is also not with ZOS it is with the gamers that ZOS knows would have exploited the Enforcer system had it gone live. I guess the only reason i'm upset with zos for removing it is because they shouldn't have teased it in the fist place. However, i also have to consider that their old game director that leaked that old info is no longer with their company and maybe it is for reasons like these. They are still dusting themselves off from the mess that Nick Konkle (spell crafting lead) and Paul sage (Justice system teaser) left for them to clean up. Both of those guys are no longer there now. I have to assume that ZOS has learned from their past mistakes and are stepping it up now to balance out the game for the better us all. Who was going to stop a character from building a dreadfully gargantuan bounty and then letting his own friend kill him for it and splitting the profits. The features that are on their way into the game sound amazing and if ZOS does 1/2 as good with the next two DLCs as they did with Orsinium I will be extremely happy, hyped and eager to play them. I'll keep looking to the stars. Thanks for your positive feedback Karoneth
